Farrels' History Farrels was first opened in June, 1894, in the Clifton section of Cinncinnati, Ohio, by Oscar Farrels and his two sons, Benjamin and Hertzl. Farrels is in its sixth generation of ownership by the Farrels family. |
Farrels' philosophy goes back to the original mission statement
of Oscar that if you treat a customer fairly you will have him for life. |

Farrels has an unconditional return policy even on merchandise that has been custom-tailored. If the item does not meet the customer's satisfaction, then it is returnable without hastle. |
| Farrels' Sales Policy Farrels feels that the term "sale" has become overused. Therefore, it has discontinued having sales. |

In 1990, Richard Farrels, the current CEO, determined that general sales policies were nothing more than ways of moving end of season merchandise and using inflated list prices so as to be able to discount. In lieu of store determined sales, Farrels, in addition to using realistic pricing, offers each customer a one week period, at his own discretion, to take 25% off all his purchases during this period. The customer chooses the time and the items for his own personal sale. |
